Beautiful TV at a great price

I’ve had this TV for about a month now and am very happy with it. It has a beautiful picture. We have used the standard cable input as well as a progressive DVD player (not an up-converting model) with component input. Both have looked really nice. When browsing for TVs at Best Buy I noticed that many looked really awful with just a standard TV (non-HD) input. This TV does not have that problem.

What really drove me to this TV was the price. Plasma has a much nicer picture than LCD, and this price was awesome compared to others in its size range (including LCDs). We sit about 8-10 ft from the TV, and see no need for 1080i resolution for a 42″ TV. The 720p is plenty good enough. 480p (DVD, standard digital TV) looks good as well.

The only potential downsides to this TV — it does have a significant amount of glare. I control that with window blinds and room lighting. I don’t watch a lot of daytime TV, so it doesn’t bother me much. Also, the controls feel rather slow (especially changing channels). I only compare the speed to our old CRT TV, though, so I don’t know how that compares with other plasma or LCD TV’s.

Have had it about a year with no problems. I’m not a huge TV buff, but i think the picture and sound are great! The only thing i can think of that i don’t like is the response time for changing channels with the remote. Small issue i know. Otherwise i am very happy with it!

Had my heart set on an Panasonic 42″ 1080P plasma, but I could not resist the Samsung for the money. Resarched Consumer Reports and several HDTV forums. Amazon had the best price of several other on-line retailers. I heard horror stories about the shipping company, EGL, but was pleasantly surprised when my delivery arrived several days ahead of schedule in the middle of a snow storm. The people were very pleasant to work with. the TV is great. I would highly recommend an HD purchase from Amazon. I am also very satisfied with the HP-T4264. No complaints other than with my my HD provider. HD picture quality is great once you figure out the myriad of settings. SD picture quality is a work in progress. I am very happy with my purchase. I agree with some of the comments about glare, but it is no worse than a flat tube TV. You cannot go wrong with this set.

Fantastic Plasma

This is a great TV, I have no complaints. The 720p is all you need at this size and probably a 50 inch as well. My shipping was fast, but this review is based on the TV only. Loaded with features and an incredible color palette, make this a top 42 inch TV. Recommended.

Bought this TV a week ago and it is absolutely amazing. I have a HD DVD player and a blu ray player and have watched a number of different movies. The clarity and sharpness of the TV are amazing. I love this TV. One of the best purchases that I have made in a long time.

TV problem from the first date I purchased

I purchased Samsung HPT4264 HD TV.

Concerning Delivery by Eagle trucking service I have no objections. Everything was OK and in the timely manner that Amazon promised.

Anyway I am having different problem about this TV unit.

Friend of mine visited me yesterday and very first thing that he asked is: “why is your TV so hot”. HE said that is not normal. SO before I purchased this TV I had regular TV set so I did not have experience about it. Also I felt that TV is hotter than normal, but I did not have any concern about it, thinking that is normal operating temperature.

However we ended calling the Samsung customer service for the help.

A gentleman from customer service was very kind with us. He explain that TV shouldn’t be hotter than 100 F, but my had about 170 F on the very top-back grill . He told me that I have to turn off TV immediately, and unplugged from the wall. Other parts of this unit had normal temperature. Also he set service appointment. So now I have to wait 7 days without TV for the service to come.

This is very bad.

I hope that Samsung technician would recommend exchanging this TV for the new one.

This set blew up after one week. Samsung refused to send a repair person, claiming it could be repaired over the phone. Huh? I called their service center and they put me on hold for 15 minutes before I finally hung up. Amazon sent a shipper to pick the set up and credit my account. Amazon thumbs up, Samsung thumbs down. Picture quality was never great on the Samsung, look to the Panasonics instead.

I received my TV last week. I am anxious to plug it in and use it, I am holding off to surprise the kids Christmas morning. This review is for the Shipping Company Eagle Global Logistics.

Eagle GL (EGL) estimated my TV delivery by 13-Nov. The item was recieved at their facility 5-Nov. I was contacted on 7-Nov to set up a delivery time. I recieved the TV the next day, on time, delivered by two workers, who carefully unboxed, unpacked and plugged in the TV. They connected both a DVD player and my satellite tuner. We established picture and sound. They cleaned their stuff up and were out the door. I had a VERY good experience with them.

I will rate the TV after Christmas, when “Santa” gives it to the family.

Well, the TV has been running for about 1.5 weeks.

Pros

-The TV has a great picture with the HD box from Dishnetwork, but only a good picture if you have a SD box. This may be due to the component video connections (HD box) vs. the coaxial connection (SD box). The HD box seems to have a cleaner SD picture.

-On remote caption button. This is great with kids in the house so I can understand what is being said with the ruckus around me. NOTE-Closed Caption only works through Antenna connection on TV. To get CC through the component video, I had to dial it up through the HD box from dishnetwork.

-Many types and quantities of connections on back panel. (HDMI, Comp video, comp audio, S-VHS, yadda, yadda)

-Picture can be adjusted using a wide array of settings (this is also a con, see below.)

Cons

-The picture can be changed using several settings and can be frustrating. I have tried to get the right picture setting since we opened it, but I am having a difficult time getting the right balance. I may just suck it up and pay for the professionals to do it.

Overall

I really like this TV and look forward to many movies, superbowls, HD shows, and Spongebob episodes (yes, the kids watch this TV also)in the future.

This TV is awesome! I’ve never had any problems with it and the picture it delivers is flawless! I have played DVD’s on it, watched HDTV with an antenna, and play computer games with it and it work great for each scenario. I have recommended this TV to everyone I know. I did a lot of research before I purchased this TV because I did not know if I wanted to get this one or a Sony. But I have no regrets now that I have bought this one!

Night and day difference from this model to last years

There’s a HUGE difference in the picture quality between this model and the one from last year. Don’t waste your time with the small Terk antennas, they all stink for the money. The ANT301 is the best one I’ve found (I’ve tried 10 or more different ones) for OTA HD.

Be SURE to change the picture settings out of the box. The ones it ships with are terrible and might make you think the blacks aren’t fantastic on this, when they ARE amazing. You need to set up EACH input.

wow…came quick!!!!!!!…eagle called and shipped it next day from tampa to st pete…guys were as professional as you can expect from truck drivers and they helped me scoot it into my garage…i love amazon because they are extremely competitive with pricing…i dont know how they can afford to stay in busines…as for why i chose the top end model when i could have saved 50 bucks on the HPT4254…this model is sleeker looking…thanks amazon for delivering one of the best plasmas on the market at a very affordable price…oh and why did i choose samsung over panasonic…the panny bast model did not offer a vga connection for my laptop…

This television is great. I also own the panasonic 50 inch 720p model from 2007 and find this TV to be of equal picture quality.

After reading the reviews on Amazon and seeing the Samsung model in stores,I decided to buy Samsung.Received my order from Amazon within 7 days.Delivery was great by Eagle.Set was fantastic for one week.Sound went out.It took three weeks to get fixed.One reason was the holidays and another reason that Samsung only had one company under contract in this area.That company never returned calls,and when I called them they said they were didn’t know when they could come and that they were very busy.Samsung was pretty good and was concerned enough to call back.They had to get a company from Maryland under contract.They were prompt found the problem and ordered new sound board.Returned within week and fixed problem.All is well.I guess it could happen to anyone.Just trying to write honest review.Yes, I would buy another Samsung product and always from Amazon my favorite place to shop.

Good tv right before it completely broke

After reading all the reviews we bought this tv for $1000 in Aug07. Worked great (except for a few HDMI issues with Time Warner’s DVR) – nice picture, okay sound, right up until one day, out of the blue the video just stopped. It’s never had any damage – never even been moved. TV Repair said the main board was bad – common problem with these tvs. It was 2 years and 2 months from the date we bought it. Samsung was completely unreasonable – asked them just to cover the parts and we would pay the labor as this is a known problem – no luck.

Good tv but very bad reliability. I wouldn’t buy one unless you have a 5+ year warranty.

Not much to add to most of these reviews. The set was delivered promptly and very professionally by Eagle. The set itself looks fantastic on HD and even better than I expected on standard resolution. As other reviewers have noted, the factory default settings are terrible. I found the AVSForum website to be a very helpful starting place to learn about burn-in issues and suggested pictture settings. The Samsung’s on-screen menu is very easy to navigate to make the initial set-up and changing settings a breeze.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

I have owned this tv for over half a year and I love the set. The picture is second to none and the quality of the product is great. The only thing that I have an issue with is the remote that comes with the tv. It does not allow me to control my TIVO dvr and there are certain functions that I am unable to perform when controlling my digital cable box. However, I would buy this tv over any other that I have experienced, it continually impresses me.

Got this TV before Christmas- I looked around at nearby stores and no one had it at the Amazon price! They either had the lower model (for more money) or didn’t carry it. And with the free white glove delivery you don’t have to drive home at a snails pace with a big TV in the back of your car hoping you don’t have to slam on your breaks! Thanks to all the other reviews on this TV, it was an easy choice and I don’t regret it! Wonderful picture- especially after making the suggested tweaks that you’ll find in another post. You wont want to watch any SD channels. Mounted it with the “Peerless ST650 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 30-50″ Flat Panel Screen” Great combo.

Oh- and Eagle Delivery service was great- I tracked the packeg using their website and called them (didn’t wait for them) when I saw it reached the local delivery center and arranged for delivery. since it was the wed. before christams, they didn’t get it out unitl Friday- but it was Friday at 8am-exactly when they said they would be there- very nice guys.

It Really Is All About the Settings

I’ve only had the tv for 3 days, and I while the HD channels looked fantastic, I was very concerned that the basic channels looked terribly grainy. I decided to try the settings recommended by Victor Ireland and that solved the problem (thank you Victor)!

Great TV – Slow Delivery

I researched HDTVs for a long time before choosing this one. I saw it at Best Buy but bought it on Amazon because the price was substantially cheaper.

The TV is utterly spectacular!! The picture is awesome, much sharper than I expected, even from broadcast analog and digital channels (I don’t have cable hooked up yet). DVDs look great even without a new upconverting player.

The only drawback was waiting ten days for delivery. The package arrived at the local shipping center within days, but because Eagle only delivers between 9AM and 1PM, I had to wait for my next day off from work to receive the TV. Painful, but worth it for this excellent TV!!

Took a couple of tries to get it right

I have this TV for about a month now. I am impressed with the picture quality. The sound also works for our use. Even though I have external speakers, didn’t feel the need to get them hooked up. The menu is fairly intuitive. I am quite happy with the TV so far.

But, I had to go through 2 deliveries for this purchase. The first one was scheduled within a week of purchase. I was all excited, went and bought a new TV stand and assembled it. Eagle was punctual on the day of delivery. However, they just had one person show up instead of the usual 2. I helped him out a bit in unpacking. We removed the packaging, but before we lifted it on the stand, I noticed the bottom right corner of the TV broken! The delivery guy immediately acknowledged that it was a bad unit and agreed to take it back. I was so disappointed!

I called amazon customer service and they immediately ordered a new unit for me. The new one took a little longer in shipping. But eventually reached me on the estimated date, in the agreed upon time window. This time there were no surprises. There were 2 delivery guys, and they set it up and checked the unit. I hooked up my HD cable box and was good to go.

So, except for the double take, I am fairly happy with the purchase experience, very happy with the TV quality and extremely happy with the price.

Finally made the big screen plunge…

After months of research into both LCD and plasma tv’s I finally decided that for me, plasma was the way to go. And as I looked at every major brand of plasma tv, the Samsung models kept drawing me back. My search brought me to the HTP4264 42″ plasma screen. Once I decided on that model, I then watched and waited for a price I would feel comfortable with. I purchased my tv through BrandsMart, a local retailer. Back in September it was priced at $1200. By late december the priced had dropped to $980. They must have been wanting to unload everything, because I was able to talk them down to $800. After I got the tv home, setup was quick and easy. I don’t have cable or dish, but instead use a roof top antenna. The HD stations come in clear as bell. I was always worried after I got something like this home, I would be disappointed with the picture. You know, “It didn’t look like THAT in the store!” But the picture was beautiful! Football games are a real joy to watch. Sound is OK since I don’t use external speakers. Overall, I have been VERY pleased with my Samsung plasma tv.

I severely damaged my hand during installation, BE CAREFUL!

I bought this TV for my mother as a holiday gift. She is 67 years old and needed assistance in setting it up; to which I was much obliged to do. While I was lowering the TV onto the stand the TV slipped off of the stand and very nearly sliced open my finger to the bone. Suffice to say it ruined our holiday, and I guarantee that if my hand met such a misfortune that there are other people that have suffered my same fate.

The back of the TV has a thin steel frame that hugs the top part of the mounting, the steel is so thin that if it is dropped on your hand be prepared for instant gouging.

It is a good TV as far as the picture, however the unit itself was not designed with safety in mind. I have a 52 inch LCD Sony Bravia that was lighter to carry and easier to lower onto the stand, and has a better picture.

I am hoping that my finger heals quickly; for those with the spirit of adventure feel free to look at the photos of my incident. Best of luck to all!

great, out of the box

Received this tv 3 days ago. It works flawlessly right out of the box. It took a day or two to go through the manual and learn all the ways to set up the set. The picture is scarey, it is so good. A couple of local stations broadcast in digital (I don’t have HD) and the quality is as if the people are in your living room. Regular analog broadcasts tend to “spread out” the picture to fill up the screen but I expect to get used to this or subscribe to HDTV at some time. Set is easy to use, performs perfectly and the service by Amazon was flawless.

This is a great TV, and I’m very satisfied with the product. The local delivery service in DC scheduled 3 different delivery times before actually delivering the TV on the 4th try. I wish they would have told me when it was coming correctly the first time.

1st Time Plasma User – Very Satisfied Consumer

First of all, I would just like to commend the Eagle service. I am on the 3rd floor in my apartment building, and getting a TV of this size up to my Apt would be difficult enough, and this service made those issues irrelevant.

As for the TV:

I was so dead set on the LCD 40-42″, and 1080P, but after I did some research, I realized that 1080P isn’t going to be in wide use for quite some time. So I noticed this TV had a contrast ratio of 15,000 to 1. Most LCD TV’s had 10,000 to 1 or so, so I viewed this as a huge plus

I did more research of this TV on AVS forum, to make sure that there were no issues, manufacturing defects etc, and to my knowledge, I was unable to find such issues.

I set up the TV on the wall using a Peerless mount, and when I finally turned the TV on and connected it to an HD source.. all I can say was WOW!! I am totally hooked. We ended up putting this in our bedroom, meanwhile we have a 30″ Samsung Slimfit TV in the Living Room, so you must imagine there is now a lot of TV watching in Bed.

In summary:

For those who are hesistant to go with a Plasma – trust me on this – Do not hesitate, and go and get this TV you will not be disappointed!!

Excellent Picture — One of the Best Pictures of ANY TVs on the Market

We bought the 5064 Samsung Plasma 50″ and liked the picture and sound quality so much that we also bought this 42″.

Picture quality with vivid rich colors are top of the Class on this 42″, even better than its 50″ cousin.

The 42″ uses the same SRS surround technology as its 50″ cousin. 50″ sound quality is awesome. Amazon lists the same speaker size for both TVs. However the sound on 42″ is not as rich and thundering as the 50″.

All in all, I am very pleased with the picture quality on 42″ but somewhat disappointed with the sound, this is the reason for 4 stars.

Samsung has pixel shifting technology that supposedly makes for the longer lifes of the plasma screen. Since the TVs are still new, not sure how effective this technology really is.

I Would Buy it Again!

I had looked at many HDTV’s in Best Buys, Circuit City, Sears and others. Thought that the PR loop seen in the stores was probably as good as it would ever get – for sales reasons. I was wrong!

This is one heck of a gorgeous piece of engineering. As a professional photographer, I expect “drop-dead” images – this is it.

Delivered on time, as expected, and the driver even waited for me to open to inspect for damages.

This tv is great! The color and picture quality look amazing and the sound is pretty good too. I’ve been looking for TVs for a little while now and this is the best deal I’ve found.

I was also really impressed with Eagle, I was a little worried because of some of the feedbacks but my TV actually arrived within 6 days of purchase and the guys actually called me the day before to tell me they would bring it the next day. They even brought it downstairs for me.

So Far So Good

This set has been good as gold to this point. The test, of course, is how will it hold up over the long haul. But as a new product, there is no reason to get anything more than the total cinematic experience we have. I have been watching all of my favorite movies again and it has been like seeing them for the first time.

The shipping didn’t go so well. We had to wait one extra week to get our set from the shipper because the people didn’t use the number I gave them and couldn’t reach me. Very frustrating!

Never received product after @ 2 weeks of waiting. Apparently Eagle Carrier lost it. However, the Eagle rep said it was Amazons fault. From reading reviews, it appears that this is not the first time Eagle has lost this product. If you order this tv, cross your fingers and hope you have better luck than I did. At this point I will pay more for the same product from a local store.

Jaw dropping HD

I received this TV from Amazon via Eagle delivery last Saturday in perfect condition. No problems with the tv tilting on the stand like some people reported in the avs forums.

So I hooked up the cable and set everything up and I was in for a treat. Before I go any further I want to add that I went TV shopping at Circuit City to see what this TV or rather the hpt4254 would look like. The demo feed at circuit city was good but it never prepared me for what I would see with my own tv. My first time watching an HD channel was truly eye opening. It was akin to a religious experience on the grandest scale. The clarity of the image and the colors gave shame to the real world. That’s how good this TV is. If you’re hesitating and wondering whether this TV is good, it’s not. It’s better than good, it is awesome. The picture quality is bewildering that anything can look this good.

What does regular TV looks like? It looks ok like regular tv. But after watching HD why would you even want to watch regular tv? Buy this tv now! I gave it a 5 star rating for its awesomeness and you’ll agree with me once you have your own TV.

Samsung 42″ Plasma

First of all delivery was 2 days early and greatly appreciated. The two delivery men were extremely capable and nice.

Secondly, after all my research, this plasma model is just what we wanted. It is located in a SUNROOM with windows all around and the TV on the only full wall. Neither my husband or myself can believe the non-glare. we can barely see the outlines of the full windows in the screen but they DO NOT hinder the picture. The reviews I read about the poor sound for this model is not reflected in our use. Possibly because we have a tiled floor and a lot of windows the sound carries all around the room. It’s only two days old in our home and we suppose strange things could happen to change our minds but it IS ALL we had hoped it would be. absolutely can not believe the non-glare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have only had this product for a few weeks so we don’t have anything to review for the long-term use of our Samsung. But the picture quality is great! The TV goes through a set-up menu step-by-step automatically when you first turn it on which was a nice feature. The blacks are also black not gray like most LCDs. The sound from the TV is OK, but I would recommend going through a separate audio system. Overall I am very happy with my purchase so far.

I bought the Samsung HPT4264 42″ after comparing it with other more expensive brands like Sony. Samsung came out on top. I was originally going to buy the HPT4254, but after Amazon dropped the price to the 4264 under $1000 I couldn’t turn it down. We got it just before Christmas and are very pleased with it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for 42″ plasma TV.

I was a little concerned ordering something like this from Amazon. I’ve ordered smaller items from them before without any problems, but this was by far the most expensive item I’ve purchased from them. It was delivered the exact day promised about 4 days before Christmas. When I had a question about the delivery Amazon emailed me the phone # of the delivery service and I was able to talk to them about the delivery.

After reviewing various plasma TV, I finally bought that set which I think was interesting at this price range. This is not a real 1080p but it’s difficult to see the difference at this size. So far, I have been very happy with the TV.

Also the shipping was very fast, performed by eagle. The TV didn’t really travel since it was shipped from Irving,TX.

Great picture and connectivity

If you’re looking for a terrific picture, with deep blacks and great color, at a great price, ie. a great value, this set is for you. Combine the price with interest-free financing and you can’t go wrong. I did a lot of research to find a well-rated plasma at a value price, and this set has not disappointed. I especially like the composite video connections along with an s-video connector on the side of the set which allows me to plug the digital video camera in to get the best picture when playing directly from the camera to the television. Has a good set of picture adjustments, and I have had no problem with burn-in, although I’m careful and don’t leave any static image on the screen for too long and I have the anti-burn-in features, of which the set has several, turned on. Very pleased with this set.

The delivery company that Amazon uses did a good job of delivering the set, taking it out of the box, turning it on and making sure the set worked and had no physical blemishes. The two delivery men were very friendly and pleasant to deal with.

Maybe I just hit the unlucky lottery. But I have had the worst experience buying this TV.

I bought it on August 15th. It is now August 29th and I have never seen it and likely never will. Eagle picked it up and then just sat on it for 10 days. I took the day off to be here on the delivery date. They didn’t show.

Eagle may have screwed it up but Amazon was NO help. I called and emailed and called and emailed. Silence. I got one “we’ll get back to you.” They never did. I never got one respnse to any of my emails to Amazon.. Not one.

I finally found Eagle’s phone number on some internet forum and called them myself. Finally they tell me it will be delivered. The next day I get a call from them saying the TV was stolen (cough cough..lost). Sorry, call Amazon

Nightmare.

Now I’ll have to deal with trying to fight to get my money back …which could take weeks…maybe longer…who knows. So I’ll have been out $1200 with no TV for well over a month…if I’m lucky.

The moral of the story is..you roll the dice with Amazon. You may save a couple hundred dollars on a big purchase but you sacrifice the ability to return and get refunds easily. If something goes wrong you are screwed.

FOLLOW UP: Just wanted to post a quick update. Amazon did refund my money without a hassle and I bought the same one elsewhere. The tv itself is excellent. Very very happy. You will need some external speakers but there isn’t a comparable tv out there at this price point. Picture is as good as it gets and that includes the 1080p sets. Highly recommended…

I must say, I have a 50″ sony Plasma 1080p great great TV. Im in the IT field and have been working around these devices for years. Im very impressed with this TV.. The delivery service was great in and out tested and took the boxes with them. They even went as far as calling me ahead of time so i could meet them on my lunch break to deliver the TV. In the 15 minutes I had to set up the cable just on digital coax it looked great. Compared to the sony…. Its pretty even if not a better picture! I went 42″ because this was going in my bedroom and didnt see a need for a 50″. Im overall very pleased with this purchase at the price you can not beat it. i did alot of shopping around and some of my friends who have been doing the same job as me for years quotes Samsung as being Elite in TV quality and I can see why. the TV itself is beautiful very clean and the piano black finish is awesome looking. Im just overall pleased with the TV. I cant wait to throw MY Elite Xbox 360 on it and see what kinda quality i get!!!! As for the sound people have been complaining about it, Compaired to my Sony it kills the in sound for a stock TV speaker. My sony speaker is so bad i have to use my Onkyo Receiver for my audio.

HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS TV for a Budget bedroom or Fun room TV. Not a bad Apartment Main TV either!!

And i cant say enough about the delivery company Eagle is very professional and has that hometown feel very friendly and will work with you on delivery!! Bestbuy and the like wont either youre there or no TV!!

Dead on arrival–and you can’t return it!

While this TV might be great once it starts working, the one I just got from Amazon does not. The picture goes black after about 1 minute. Amazon said to call Samsung, so now I have to stare at this thing for another full week until someone comes out to try to repair it (you can’t just return it). If that doesn’t work I will be allowed to exchange it, which will take another 7-10 days. Next time I’ll probably pay a little more and pick one up from a store in person.

I am very pleased with this purchase. Amazon has the best price on the net. I ordered this TV last wednesday, and I am enjoying this TV as we speak! With free white glove delivery and quick shipping, this is my “Deal of the year!” There are some picture problems out of the box, the manufacturer settings suck. but minor tweaking will fix that. The picture is really sharp, but off air channels don’t look so hot. Even Off air HD channels. I am using a terk antenna that’s supposed to be really sexy. But so far, I am not impressed with the off air channels. Digital Cable looks wicked! Overal its a great TV at a great price, if it wasn’t for the reddish hues and sucky off air channels, I would give this TV a 5.

The Tv Arrived on time by Eagle logistics, They brought it in set it up and made shore it worked. The TV works great. I have only 1 complaint. The blue power light on the bottom of the screen is to bright when the set is off in a dark room, almost like a night light.Samsung HPT4264 42″ Plasma HDTV

This TV blew me away…after a lot of research i went for this model instead of the 54..the picture is amazing and i have no complaints. 1080i looks flawless the settings out of the box look great,,,but you can do so much to improve it if you dont like what you see..the fact that this has usb support is awesome. also, the inputs are very well placed..so easy to get to compared to my older plasma (which was a nice dell 42inch). The inputs are centrally located and not underneath anything..the HDMI ports are so easy to get to..i also have an HTPC connected to this tv to record tv shows as well as an OTA HD antenna for local HDTV as well as direct TV for everything else..everything looks awesome! i should mention there is no ghosting compared to the samsung lcd i saw at the local circuit city.

I have to admit i ended up not going with amazon..i went with crutchfield instead because it was under $1100 with free shipping and a free $400 extending wall mount..which was a very nice deal..ultimately, the wall mount made this a closing deal for me, it is truly awesome being able to extend and tilt and move this huge tv around like its nothing!!! the wall mount is a Sanus Universal 30″-52″ VisionMount VMAA26

There are so many reviews over here which covers literally every thing. I just want to say that I did a lot of research and bought this TV. I have this TV for last 7 Months, yup I have it for a long time and I LOVE it. In my other bed room I have LCD TV and believe me after I sit in front of this Samsung it takes me some time to start liking the LCD. And that opinion is definitely true that with this size it doesn’t matter with 720P or 1080P so don’t even bother to spend extra money. My friend bought Pioneer Elite 1080P on which he spent 3 times the price of this TV and I can clearly tell there is hardly any difference.

So if you are confused between Plasma and LCD then go for PLASMA and specially this Samsung is a steal and yeah I forgot the topping on the dessert AMAZON is AMAZING!!!! The price and service is awesome. Amazon has me as a customer of life time.

I was researching tv’s for around 3 months before i bought this tv. My range was from a $1000.00 to $2000.00. I looked everywhere from sony to pioneer to even olivia. This samsung has by far the best picture, and looks out of anything i saw. I am so unbelievingly happy about the decision i made to purchase this tv. The color and the picture on HD and Blu Ray is beyond good. I HIGHLY recommend this tv. Also the shipping was great, got in in about 5 days.

This television is the best plasma I have seen in a while. While I was shopping on a budget, I did think that this set looked better than many of the ones twice it’s price. I especially like it’s plethora of inputs. This TV is a must have if you are looking for a sleek, amazing, not pricey TV!

The only con I have for it is that the internal speakers stink.. But I have a sound system anyway.

Having researched/compared hdtvs for several months, I could not be more happier with the decision made to purchase this model. Especially catching it on Amazon for under $1000! Delivery was quick and professional. Upscaling dvd player: picture is flawless, Directv HD: picture is amazingly clear, Directv SD: picture is actually very good (but HD will not take long to spoil you). I have found the factory picture settings to be just fine. If you don’t like the factory settings, there are (what seems to be) endless possiblities of picture adjustments at your disposal. Sound is great (has an EQ). TV looks great on the wall. If you’re reading this while researching…stop now and buy this model. You will not be disappointed.

Both our Samsung’s have tuner issues. When tuning into QAM channels they pick up different channels when changing channels up than when changing channels down. Talked to a Samsung engineer and they attribute it to “tuner sensitivity”. Funny our cheaper HDTVs don’t do this. Had tuners changed, problem still exists. Samsung just keeps cancelling our service orders. Last Samsung products I will ever purchase.

After much research including several trips to name brand stores we decided on this TV from Amazon. There was no sales tax and delivery was free. It was not a refurbished set, it was brand new right out of the box. The picture is awesome! The remote is easy to use as well. The only tip I would offer is that you will have to get a new satellite dish and receiver to get high def reception. (I did not know that when I bought this tv) The cables can be a little pricey too. Over all I am very happy with this set.

Good picture out of the box! Actually trying to improve it following recos (from earlier reviews here) – made it much worse!

went back to more or less original settings and it’s fine.

Imagine would be even better if we’d got HD box/chanells from cox .. (?)
