The picture on this TV looks outstanding, we are very happy with it. You can’t beat this price; and the shipping, delivery and set up went smoothly. I would highly recommend this TV.
Everyone is jealous of my TV

Exactly as described, gorgeous HD picture, easy instructions, prompt delivery. For $700, this was a great buy.

i have been researching ever since our old tv died, for several weeks now. we ended up buying this samsung. best buy told us you get more for your money with samsung. the quality of picture looked the same. this had the features i wanted. so far so good. is fine viewing from the side. great color, great picture, sound is just fine. has the pc connections capability and 4 hdmi inputs and i have 2 dvd players and a vcr and the dvr, so that is great. it’s got the sandisk slot too, which will be great for watching slideshows of our pictures. my daughter hooked it up and it was all pretty straightforward, so that was nice. love the light weight and swivel stand (sony doesn’t have the swivel stand). the sony had great customer reviews, but the samsung had slightly higher. if any problems surface later, i’ll come back to this, but so far it’s pretty much perfect. oh, and we couldn’t figure out how to get the computer connected and called the helpline for samsung, and they told us something basic which took care of it – so the helpline was good. we got through to them right away too, which was nice. i thought we might be on hold for a long time.
i’m coming back to this, as we have now owned the tv for several months and we love it. it is still perfect. i can’t think of anything that i don’t love. the picture is outstanding, the sound will knock you out if you want to put it up that high, hd is incredible. i can’t imagine any reason for spending more or any tv that could have better color, picture, etc.
Great TV, adequate sound

I got this TV with the free Blu-ray player and HDMI cable. Ordered on 7/28, the blu-ray player arrived on 7/30 and the TV on the 8/1, using the free shipping option. TV delivered by CEVA, which I’d never heard of but they were very courteous, called the day before to set up delivery and showed up on time.
I also own a Sony Bravia 40″ from last year, and this TV is noticeably better in both sound and video quality.
Color and definition are both excellent, and I did use TweakmyTV [...] to help get the settings close to just right. The new settings did make a difference vs. the out of the box quality, but they don’t have this exact model in the database.
The touch of color is pretty much unnoticeable to my eye, if you’re counting on the red to be part of your decor I would reconsider.
Setup was very easy, but I did have to attach the stand myself because the delivery guys weren’t allow to do it. Basically, it’s just a couple of screws through the base and you’re done. The set seems to be very high quality materials, the base is heavy glass and the set is very stable on it and I like being able to swivel the set on the stand. The onscreen menus are reasonably intuitive, and once you figure out what all the icons mean it is very easy to change settings. Turning on the simulated surround sound greatly improved the sound quality.
Glare is noticeable in a bright room, but not terrible, and in a dark room the picture is outstanding.
Just a note about the blu-ray player, it’s really slow to load up and play. Probably takes about 30 seconds to a minute to be ready. But it was free and once it’s playing the quality is great.
I’m very glad I got this set at such a great price. Shipping was super fast, no problems at all.
Soo good I almost feel guilty

I’ll never get to the Bering Sea, but I feel like I was there watching Deadliest Catch on this set.
Note: I bought this set after my 23 year old 32 inch RCA finally gave up and died.
I have absolutely no complaints. The pictures was beautiful right out of the box. The TV is nice and thin, side view and top-bottom view are great with no noticeable picture fading or distortion that LCDs are known for.
Setup was easy – HDMI into the Verizon set top box. I use component cables for the DVD player. Regular DVD looks good too. I haven’t tried blue-ray yet.
Shipper was great – they called and gave a four hour window for delivery which was 4 days after ordering the set.
This is a great HDTV at a good price.

The product was delivered promptly, set up properly, and has been working well for watching DVD movies since we have had it (about 4 weeks). We do not watch TV so we cannot respond to that particular function.

I had checked out several different brands of lcd tvs. Samsung wasn’t one of them. Then I saw a floor demo model in Wal-mart. The picture was better than any of the others displayed.
I checked out the reviews on Amazon as well as other sites and decided
to go with the Samsung brand.
The price at Amazon was as good or better as any other plus being able to schedule a delivery date was ideal for us. Also we had the option of the delivery firm unpacking and setting up the set.
We’ve only had the set about a month, but, so far, are very happy with it.
As good as you said

The saleslady was good and knew the product. The delivery man was on time, courteous, and helpful. The picture is brilliant. TV like it should be! We will shop Amazon from now on. I do wish the TV had two audio out outlets – one for my wireless headphones and one for my DVD – but I use a splitter and all is well. I like the USB for my flash drive pictures.
One of the Best HDTVs on the Market
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have three, yes three of these 40″ Samsung TVs in our household. We are rather belated adoptors of consumer technology because we like to wait for prices to drop before trashing our old stuff and bringing in new ones. This was the year to replace all our old TVs. After reading many reviews, conducting online research and talking with salespeople at the “big box” electronic stores, we learned Samsung offered one of the best flat screen TVs in the market today. The B550 series represented the best value for our money. You don’t have to be a videophile to learn the basics of what to look for in an HDTV – the dynamic contrast ratio, 720p vs 1080p and 60hz vs 120hz vs 240hz, all relating to picture quality. You will pay premium prices for units that have dynamic contrast ratios of 80:000:1 and above, 1080p which gives you more pixels hence greater picture detail, and response rates [how quickly the images get refreshed] of 120hz and 240hz. Try to get a unit with the highest contrast ratio you can afford, and go for a 1080p over a 720p. As an average consumer, it is hard to see the difference between refresh rates of 60hz and 120hz. This Samsung has just the right combination of a 70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 1080p and 60hz for a family to fully enjoy the benefits of owning an HDTV. And if you’ve got cable hook-up, it gets even better! The unit also offers multiple connections for peripheral devices like DVD players, game consoles, etc. The sound quality is also great as it has an equalizer. Plus despite its large screen size, the unit is not heavy. A woman of average height and weight can carry [albeit somewhat awkwardly] this set to the second floor and mount it to its base with little difficulty. Is there something we like better? Absolutely! The 46″ version
5 Stars for the TV, 0 Stars for Shipping

Got this for $705 11/30/09. With two day shipping I scheduled my delivery for 4 days later and gave them all morning. No email, no call, no friggin smoke signal to let me know they weren’t coming. One wasted 1/2 a day of missed work later they came at ~7 at night with no word. Shipping company was PILOT, avoid them, couldn’t even contact them. I wanted to buy another TV as a present but I just don’t trust Amazon to ship it anymore. Sad part is I could see they picked it up in my state (Pa) on Monday and still couldn’t get it to my house by Friday. Were they carrying it here on foot? Same as other reviewer the truck was unmarked and the driver called a few minutes before he got there and needed directions. It was pretty shady
Anyway, on the TV, very solid, great bedroom TV. I have a bad back and it was still light enough. Looks great. If you are still on the Hz debate and thinking of going the next level up I’d have to say save your money. I haven’t seen any ghosting on anything, but I haven’t tried video games. Having seen the 120 or whatever at a friend’s house I actually thought it looked worse. The picture gets that home-video look to it on an LCD when response is too high. I’d pay extra not to have that.
Great TV!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Having finally decided to buy a new HDTV a friend suggested this one based on reviews from the internet. I shopped around and checked it out at my local “box store”. Amazon had the lowest price and although reluctant to buy a TV on-line I did it anyway. I couldn’t be happier. First a little about AMAZON’s service: I ordered on a Sunday night and my order was confirmed the next day. Two days later I received a call informing me that the shipper would be contacting me when ready for delivery. That happened the next day. So, I ordered on Sunday and had the TV in my home on Friday! And, shipping was FREE. The delivery service brought it to the door, unpacked it, set it on my stand and ran it through it’s test set-up.
Now for the TV. For the price this set rocks. Color and clarity are great. Menus for setting different color, contrast, brightness features are very easy. The remote does have backlighting which I appreciate. Wish the cable companies HD receiver had backlighting! The sound quality is about what I expect from TV speakers. I’ll add a home theater system sometime, but for now I find the sound quite acceptable. I am not even close to be a techno fanatic so this TV fit the bill for me – easy set up and a great pic without any fussing.
I don’t quite get the “red touch of color” thing. Yes, there is a bezel around the bottom of the TV that is slightly red in certain lighting situations. But, it is hardly noticed and I’m not sure why Samsung has even produced them this way. It is hardly a driving feature of this TV.
Again, this is a great set for the price. And, AMAZON delivers again – for FREE!!
thanks for nothin

i’ve used Newegg for every online electronic device until this tv. amazon had a good deal for this on black friday 704 total. it gets here in about two days shipped and arrived on some unknown branded truck. the front of the box had a big hole in it but we unpacked the tv and it looked perfect, so we set it up and hooked it all up. once getting it powered on the tv has just a crazy blotch of colors all originating from one spot (which seems like it must have been hit). upon contacting amazon they told us they would refund our TV but we’d have to pay the standard rate for the tv (over a 100 extra dollars more then purchase price) no thanks amazon, take your tv back and i’ll just order from Newegg and get it here via UPS in actual working condition.

Excellent TV
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Purchased this tv last month to replace a last generation 37″ flat screen CRT. What an amazing difference! We don’t have cable but we get crystal clear, uncompressed network signals over the air and the images look gorgeous, especially the ones that broadcast at 1080i. Sports at 60 Hz, such as NCAA basketball and football, NBA, NFL and NHL, look brilliant with no blurring that I can see at all. Not sure what the 120 Hz and 240 Hz could possibly add to the experience, but they might. I’m really stunned that we lived with standard def for so long! Purchased an upconverting DVD player (HDMI) soon after purchase as the old DVD player (5 years old; component outputs) only displayed at 480i resolution. The old one looked good but the new images, upconverted to 1080 (not sure if its 1080i or 1080p as the TV only says 1920×1080), look fantastic, even from three feet away. After randomly tinkering with the video settings for a couple of weeks, I used the THX video tests which come with any Lucasfilm disc to calibrate the Movie and Standard picture modes and got excellent results. I notice no glare on the screen, no flashlighting (whatever that is), no image problems at all except the ones that are a result of getting channels over the air.
The sound is by far the best on any TV I’ve ever had. Use Movie mode with the virtual surround set to on for everything, but make sure to turn 3000 Hz in the EQ section down as it emits an unpleasant hiss if up too loud. No trouble hearing dialog (a maddening problem on the old standard def tvs, even in stereo mode) with 5.1 set to on on every DVD I’ve watched, with audible differences in spatial sound location over the stereo mode.
I can’t say enough good things about this TV. My opinion may be jaded for just having upgraded to HD but this TV even looks great turned off. Oh yeah, got a SQ04 circuit board. Not sure if that matters but during research there was considerable discussion on forums about which circuit board you got with this TV.
I highly recommend this TV.

We live in the country 52-54 miles away from the nearest TV stations and our house is surrounded by 80ft tall trees. I replaced the old roof antenna with a new one and a twin lead with a coaxil cable. The TV picture is beyond our wildest expectations and the sound is superior to our old analogue TV. We receive over thirty stations. We watch the news from our dinner table 19 ft away and all other times we watch from 11 ft away. We wouldn’t want a larger size screen. The viewing angle is great. Besides watching VCR tapes we don’t use the other available features and therefore cannot comment on those.
As a side note: it helps to be computer savy in order to understand and navigate through the steps in the user manual.
The TV was delivered three days after I ordered it by Pilot Freight Services. I was very pleased with the manner the box was secured in the truck. The driver helped me carry the box inside the house but said he wasn’t allowed to unpack for inspection. As the TV weighs only 33 lbs I could do it by myself. And finally as for Amazon, I have never had any problems of any kind. So “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
This TV is amazing.

This is my first LCD, however I have looked at many many TV’s in person as well as online, read all the reviews possible, including on AVSforum, etc. After much searching, I decided on this TV from Newegg on Black Friday sale, $400 off.. got it For $705, and it was worth every penny plus more… I am using it with a Philips DVP5990 upconvert DVD player through HDMI, Motorola Comcast DVR through HDMI, Nintendo Wii through Component(480p) and Playstation 2 through Component (some games 480p/i and some others 720p)… EVERYthing, including the crappy Comcast Signal, looks amazing on this set! I set up custom settings by mixing the settings [...]
I HIGHLY recommend this TV to anyone that is looking for a 40″ TV!
I will never buy Samsung again
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I purchased a Samsung TV and I had done alot of research before. I thought I was getting a great TV. Wow, was I wrong. About a month ago, the screen went blank and all I had was the audio. I called Samsung and they contacted some fly by night TV shop to fix the problem. Guess what, the problem is still there and the TV shop damaged the TV. Samsung doesn’t want to know anything about the damage. They are not standing behind the TV. From now on, it is Sony all the way. I am very surprised about Samsung but I have heard other stories like mine and the initial problem with the screen going blank is a problem they have been having with many of their models.
FANTASTIC!

Absolutely love this TV! The most beautiful picture I’ve ever experienced. From the delivery guy to set-up, it was a breeze. I really appreciated being able to buy it online, not having to transport it myself nor carry it into my home. Just opening the box and recruiting my 16 year-old to lift it out and onto the stand. Not one single problem with this TV.

Perfect in Every Way
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the second Samsung LCD 40 inch 1080p television I have purchased. This purchase was a gift for my daughter’s family so I wanted it to be perfect… and it is! The picture is astonishing and watching the football games on Sunday is like having the perfect seat in the stadium! Movies (Blu-ray) and video games seem to come to life with color, depth, and clarity. I think the picture is so remarkable because of the true black color within the LCD. I seldom write reviews; however, while I feel the picture and the price of this Samsung is perfect, it was the delivery by Amazon which made me write the review. I was very hesitant about this purchase because I was worried about the LCD being delivered and damaged by freight. But everything about the delivery was, also, perfect. The company contact me three time via phone to give me status updates and confirm a time for delivery. They showed up within a few minutes of the arranged time, unloaded the LCD, brought it into my home, unboxed it, then turned it on to check if everything was working properly! Like I said it was perfect and completely eased my concerns about making this type of purchase via Amazon. My family and I set the LCD up in my daughter’s home in less than ten minutes and were watching the HD NFL Football game truly amazed at how great the picture and sound was. I would highly recommend this Samsung LCD and the service Amazon provided to make this present…. well perfect!
Very nice TV!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tv arrived on time in perfect condition. I currently using my tv for my computer monitor. The display is wonderful.
I like putting on a 1080p movie, sit back and relax. This tv has an amazing picture. The price is great. I am very satisfied with this tv. The only con is the sound is a little cheap, but who cares. You shoudnt be watching a movie with tv speakers in the first place.
My second Samsung TofC LCD TV
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’m not displeased with this TV set, but I have to say that It’s picture quality is nowhere near as clear as the 52″ Samsung TofC LCD TV that I purchased just prior to this one so it’s a little disappointing. It’s disappointing because the reason I bought the 40″ set is because I was/am so pleased with the 52″ model. I was constrained to 40″ because of space limitations in the hutch.
Very, Very Pleased!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Only the second night with this set and I can’t unglue myself from it. This is a great sub-$1,000 set that will please all but the most hardcore videophiles. This set is also very light, I tucked it under my arm to move it up and down the stairs. ToC is subtle, almost invisible, so those who don’t care for last year’s ToC, don’t worry, you can barely see it the color on this TV. The swivel stand makes it easy so access the rear of the TV to hook up the cables that it makes you wonder why other manufacturers make stands without the swivel feature.
I had originally purchased an LG, but the off-angle viewing was awful, but from the same seating position, the Sammy shines. As with all LCDs, some color is lost when viewing from off-angle, but this set always displayed a picture that was acceptable.
If there’s a weakness, it’s displaying standard definition, as in regular cable, but that’s a challenge shared by most LCD screens. SD does not look as good as I’ve seen on some other LCDs, but the picture is more than acceptable.
DVD’s showed great… Upconverted DVD even better, I was impressed… Blu ray blew my mind. The color depth, the dark blacks, the crisp picture… I was VERY pleased. I am sure you will be too!
====================================================
Update 07/13/09… Almost 3 months and I’m still happy. Had it hooked up to a Samsung BDP2550 bluray player and it’s awesome. Currently using the upconverting Samsung 1080P9 DVD player and it’s still awesome. I have to sit closer than 7 feet to see any difference between DVD and bluray. Also connected to my PC via an 18ft HDMI cable, streaming Netflix and using Windows Media Center to view the NCIS and Star Trek episodes I have on my hard drive.
Still a GREAT purchase and I recommend this set to anyone interested in a 1080p LCD.
===================================================
Update 10/31/09… Hooked up a PS3 Slim last month and started viewing movies on Bluray… it’s like I got a new TV! I’ve never been able to see a substantial difference between DVD and BD, but after a few months of just DVD, Bluray on my 40B550 is blowing me away once more! I think I just picked up another habit… no more DVD purchases, only Bluray. And with prices going down on flat screens, this set is a bargain at $849.

My 3rd Samsung Flat screen, I love it!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After watching the prices on this LCD TV, I jumped on a great price here at Amazon. It was delivered within 3 business days of my ordering. This is the 2nd Large Samsung I’ve purchased from Amazon and I couldn’t be happier. The set up was easy and we hung it on a wall bracket in the bedroom. It is a beautiful unit. The picture and sound are perfect. The only issue that needs to be considered is due to the high gloss finish scratches from cleaning show, even using the included cleaning cloth.
Disappointing at best
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Well, had the LN40B550 foracouple of days, and must say was very diappointed with the picture quality. I did some more research outside of Amazon, and found this thread on AVSForum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1126988&page=6), where many other users are experiencing the same picture quality issues, mostly blurring and ghosting (using digital cox cable with component connection). HD content looks good, but still grainy for some reason. Also, many other users has had requested technicians to come out and see if they can make any repairs, with most of them replacing the screen itself. But does not quite the fix the problem. My Vizio 32″ LCD seems more crisper than this TV. I even upgraded the firmware, and adjusted the pitcure settings, but I’m just not satisfied with this TV. I will be returning it, and shop for another TV. Hope this helps.
Our first HDTV
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We knew that in 2009 we would upgrade our old 32″ analog TV to HDTV. Amazon offered the best overall price and shipping was included. The delivery people helped me get this TV to the basement area where I wanted it, uncrated it and helped me lift it up on the TV stand. I hooked up the Comcast box as I had for the upstairs TV a few days earlier.
I found it quite easy to set up. The picture is clear and crisp, even for stations which have not switched yet, the sound does not require a separate home theater system (in my opinion). In short, it meets or exceeds all our expectations.
Works as advertised

Came as advertised. Works as advertised. I’d do business again with Amazon in a heart beat. In fact, I have done more business with them. If you’re concerned about whether it actually works as they say, it does.
Delivery Dates are Hypothetical at Best…
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I ordered with Amazon’s statement that if order was made in time, delivery would be made on certain day. The day arrived (yesterday) and we got a call…to “set up” delivery. What? We said we thought delivery was happening that day, simple response, “Nope, didn’t make it out.” They offered Saturday delivery with Thanksgiving. What even happened to Friday? Point is, Amazon’s “order now for delivery by X date” is a hypothetical promise, not to be counted on. I believe Amazon should defer to “under promise and over deliver”. There was no shot of this item being delivered by Weds., and why it was stated as reasonable, creates for poor service experience. I have not received the set yet, so I can’t review it, but point needs to be made that false promises impact service experience and that promise was simple reason I chose to purchase from Amazon. They need to take it more seriously or find less loyalty from customers expected Amazon to say what they mean. (I understand shipper is not Amazon, but point is they make the promise). Whatever the promise states, I suggest you expect 4-5 days more and only buy if that delivery date works for you.

Just received this TV so it’s too early to rate the TV itself, but I can tell you the sound is more than adequate. I do want to commend the delivery service “Pilot” The gentleman called to tell me he was on his way. He unpacked the TV, put it on the stand, reconnected my VCR, put batteries in the remote, stuck around til the TV programmed itself with the cable and to make sure everything was working. Thank you!

Avoid Samsung LCD sets
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I’m the owner of a Samsung flatscreen tv, about two years old and out of warranty. Recently it began to power up very slowly, and now does so only after more than a minute and after sporadic clicks. An internet search for “Samsung television problem” showed a pattern of this specific problem among thousands, if not more, sets. Correspondents have noted the problem is with a specific, relatively inexpensive part. Samsung has refused to offer any assistance to me and others reporting on consumer sites, despite the company’s certain knowledge of the pattern of breakdowns. Don’t risk a Samsung tv purchase when so many other brands are available.

For my taste, the picture quality is superb. I tweaked it to my taste and I rate the picture quality outstanding. I paid 656. I’ve been looking for years and that price even beats the black friday 2009 price at Costco (w/ 10% sales tax!) The sound is inferior to my old Proview 32 inch (proview had large side mounted speakers) with it’s downward firing speakers, but I use surround sound through my Denon/Polk system anyway. I was close to returning it when I tweaked the sound by turning the dynamic sound check off. This created chirping and crackling, even at low volume. I Turned this feature back on and now it’s fine. It’s a nice looking set too. Bezel not too crazy glossy with no warpages in the plastic and I like the matte finish on the screen. I’m not a fan of the touch of color models so this clear bezel cover is best for me.

Samsung LN40B550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color We received the TV very promptly after being ordered. It was delivered ,uncrated, assembled and positioned very professionally. The TV operated very well with no problems. However, The Amamzon promotion from which we ordered the TV indicated that a “Blu-Ray Player” would be included with no additional charge. We did not receive the Blu-Ray Player with the shipment. We assumed the player would be received by separate shipment. It has now been over 6 weeks and the Blu-Ray Player has not been received. We sent a letter to Amazon.com LLC, 2700 Regent Blvd,Irving, Texas 75063-3135 on August 25th. No reply has been received.

This is my first LCD. I am 72 and not tech savy. It arrived as promised and was unpacked by the shipper and set up on its stand. I was told not to run it for at least 2 hours so that it could warm up because when it arrived we were having temps in the low 20’s. It is working very well and was so easy to connect to my cable outlet. The pic is clear and the colors sharp. It does not have the touch or color as advertised, but that is of little importance to me. Compared to my old tube set this is half the weight and there is no comparison. I wish I had gotten this a long time ago.

This is my first HDTV and I am no “techie”. However, I know what looks good and what doesn’t. I looked for quite awhile and read reviews here and on Consumer Reports (Samsung highly rated). CEVA delivered and set up TV and remote, took a strole through the channels and removed the packaging. I just got HD service on May 30, what a difference!! I love this TV so far and the Samsung upconverting DVD player I got at the same time. HD channels are crystal clear, the pic is beautiful and DVDs are awesome played on this TV. Sound is good also. I am really pleased with the TV, the price, and the delivery.
Awesome.

I bought this TV over a month back. (Waited for a month to write a detailed review)
I did a lot of research before buying this TV. As everybody is, I was confused too between 1080/720, 40/46/50″, LCD/Plasma, Samsung/Sony, and so on …The more options you have, the more confusion.
Samsung is the best brand in LCD TV today. Thats why I chose Samsung. 40″ made sense for my small house.
I am watching a lot of DVDs and the picture quality is absolutely stunning. I am yet to watch HDTV but I can only imagine how good it would be too.
This TV does not have PIP. Whoever loves that feature, should pay more and go for the higher version.
I got this TV for $660 and love the price I got it on amazon (There was a promotion going on and I grabbed it right in time). The TV was delivered within 3-4 business days. The courier on my request installed the TV as well. (Installing this TV is the easiest thing. My 15 month daughter can do too
When I watch TV at home, I cannot tell any difference between 1080/720 or 60/120 Hz. The differences are very minor. I don’t understand what the red touch of color means.
All I would like to say is the picture quality is stunning.
I went to Sams/Best Buy and compared Samsung LCD TVs with others and inferred that Samsung LCDs are much better in picture quality than the rest. Always better to go with the best brand TV.
I am buying 5 year extended warrant from DTV express for just $99. (Plus the original 1 year warranty by Samsung)
If you can, you should buy the warranty. It is like insurance.
Great TV for the price

Very Happy with TV and Delivery

NO problems with TV and Delivery…. got a call 2 days earlier than I expected from CEVA to see if they could deliver the TV in the next two hours so that was great…they put the TV on the stand and sat it in the cabinet…they were going to connect it but I said let me do it…I plugged in the componet cable and 2 HDMI devices and then we turned it on to make sure the TV worked….they asked me if I wanted to keep the empty box and I didn’t so they took it…the 40 inch TV fit my cabinet with the doors on, thanks to the people who measured their tv for me…
Picture great…Reliability, eh, not so much

Nobody could even touch the Amazon price and I was very satisfied with my 40 inch Samsung. But a few months after the warranty ended the picture got noticeably worse and the unit would turn on sometimes and other times would not. The repairs cost $250 and the 2 shops I visited told me this was a common problem (power supply and picture board) with Samsung TVs. I’ll buy on Amazon again but not a Samsung product.
An excellent set!

I was undecided between this 2009 model and last year’s LN40A550.
The features are substantially identical, but after figuring that the difference between best prices for the two, which I could find after extensive shopping around, was only $50, I went for newer one for its updated look and lighter weight.
In the reviews, one of the principal complaints for 2008 was the sound quality. I can’t directly compare 2009 and 2008, but found 2009’s LN40B550 to have perfectly adequate, if not excellent speakers, as far as TVs go.
Picture quality, menus, setup are excellent as expected.
One aspect that I did find puzzling is Wiselink not being able to recognize my old trustworthy USB Flash Drive. I even tried formatting the drive in various ways, unfortunately none of the tricks worked.
Perhaps, it’s the ancient drive not being comparable in some way, but it had never let me down before. Anyhow, I ordered a few different flash drives, and will try again, and then post an update.
====================================
Tried four various flash drives, all of them work just fine in computers, all four freshly formatted same way (FAT32). Two of the drives are read by the TV with no problems, the two others are not recognized at all… Go figure… The slideshow functionality is nice, quite limited, but does the job.
Just for the reference, one of the drives that does work in this TV is Kingston Data Traveler 4GB.
Awesome LCD HDTV!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
For me this set was the best value around for the mid level LCD HDTV market. With impressive stats, performance and reliability I have fallen in love with this HDTV. Standard definition TV is looks good on this set but with my Xbox 360 watching DVDs and gaming is taken to a new level (as compared to the CRT TV that this is replacing). Even with the now relatively low 60 hrz refresh rate games and up-converted DVDs shine. There are plenty of ports to hook up all of the peripherals that one would ever need (although no S-Video).
There are a lot of options to customize the settings for this HDTV but I have been happy with the factory default setup. I have tested out the game mode with Halo 3 and it works great, but even without the game mode on, games still look stunning.
On a side note:
*The red Touch of Color is not noticeable but I do like it as there is also a clear glass/Plexiglas bezel around the whole set.
*The speakers and sound on this set are fair to good… but for me just perfect. If you are particular about high quality sound you could always just connect a surround sound system to the thing and not use the built in speakers.
*I have been impressed with the quality and reliability of Samsung LCD HDTVs (I have an older model that has been working fine for more that 3 years, despite a lot of daylong use) I expect this one to last just as well as the technology has improved a bit since then.
I would highly recommend this model to everyone, especially those in the under $1,000.00 price range. This is a good bang for the buck LCD HDTV.
My dream come true
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I read a lot of reviews and visited this model in the store before purchasing. I use it to display cable, movies, video games, and even my laptop.
I chose a Samsung because I’ve had a number of products from them that were of great quality, including my old cell phone and one of my computer monitors.
The LN40B550 is sleek and attractive. The thin clear outline around the boundary picks up the color from the wall behind it and looks great.
Use – Quality
_____________
Computer display – Amazing (pixel-perfect)
Video Games – Awesome
Movies – Great
Cable – Very Good
Recommendations:
- Turn down the backlight a little to preserve the bulb. It’s better than turning down the brightness.
- Don’t use the Game Mode. It makes the image look “muddy”. I play fast-action games, and they look great without using Game Mode.
Perfect and works excellent with my MacBook Pro

T.V. just arrived today and works perfect. I hooked this baby up with my MacBook Pro unibody enclosure (oct. 2008) using a MonoPrice’s Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter and a HDMI cable. Video image is AWESOME, sound quality great and CEVA was just perfect. Menu and rest of the controls are easy as pie and I love the minimalistic design Samsung put on this set.
I did several weeks of research before buying and yes it’s true: price is just fair for all the things this t.v. can do (I already did several test).
It was pretty hard to convinced my wife but, after watching “Devil Wears Prada” on the t.v., everything went o.k. Take note.
Love it!

I had been researching different TV’s for a few months but I was always comparing them to the Samsung. Amazon had such a great price and free shipping that I jumped on it. Delivery was great they called to set up a convinient time – the guy unpacked it and put it on my stand for me. It has a great picture and the sound it great to. I am very happy with my purchase and I would definitely recommend purchasing from Amazon, because you get a great product, great delivery and great customer service. thanks a bunch!

The purchase experience was great from start to finish. The price was right. Delivery was great. Delivered right when it was supposed to and in perfect condition.
I can’t say enough about the ln40B550. It is beautiful. The only drawback is the sound. If you connect it to a surround sound system your there. I did some research and went with the cheaper 60hz rather than putting out for the 120 or 240hz. I don’t know how it could be much better though. PS3 Games, blue ray, and HD stations really shine.
Our cat attacks the animals on the screen.
I purchased the samsung bd3600 blue ray with streaming video also. a nice addition to the TV.

This set was delivered 2 days ago. The delivery company attached the stand and set up the tv and helped me get started. Easy to program basic functions. Lots of functions I have not had before so it will take a while to figure it all out. Works great out of the box – looks great. Vivid pictures on all channels but amazing on HD channels. Picture is very crisp and the colors are amazing. I have only had to adjust the picture aspect on the channels that are not 16:9 so that the pictures are not stretched, I have not had to adjust anything else. I ordered the Samsung DVD-1090P upconvert DVD player and the two products communicate great with each other and the pictures are amazing. The red touch-of-color is almost non-existent, but I didn’t buy the tv for that. Only improvement that I can see is to up the sound output a little bit. The only other item I had to purchase was the HDMI cable 6 ft. HQ 1080P 1.3b to hook the Dvd player to the tv. Great purchase, we are watching the US Open Golf in HD, wow. We love it (would even be tempted to purchase a larger version, but this one is great.) Mine came with a cord to hook to the wall or tv stand to prevent tipping.
Great TV!

Also own a 46″ Samsung. Did the research again and we got the 40″. The picture is great. The sound, well I’m used to the surround on my 46″ even though, could be a bit better, would have given 5 stars. For the price you can’t go wrong.

Problems!!!
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
We bought this TV because it is so highly rated. Within a month of purchse, the sound went. I called Samsung at midnight the night it went out, and at 7:00 the next morning, I got a call from their repair service saying that they were on the way. So the service was amazing! The repairman replaced a big circuit board, and that created more problems, so he replaced another. That seemed to take care of it. But a few days later, we were watching it, and it would turn itself off and on, over and over. So I called again, and they said that they knew what was wrong, and would have to order the only other circuit board in the TV. A couple days later, they came out and replaced it, and finally it seems OK. Except since they replaced the last part, whenever you change channels, there is a few second pause in between. No big deal, but a little annoying. Also, we have surround sound, and it will not work with this TV. Even the repairman tried to get it to work, and didn’t understand why it wouldn’t. The picture is very good, but not perfect like some other ones I’ve seen. I think we just got a lemon.
Made the Right Decision
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I couldn’t be more pleased with this TV. The picture is phenomenal. No adjustments to the picture were necessary. The menu is easy to use. The audio is fine. There is a USB port in the back which I haven’t used yet, but probably will use it for photos. The remote is large but not really bulky. Since I don’t play games, I can’t comment on those connections.
One reason I chose this TV was the size. It was the only 40 inch that would fit inside my entertainment center which allows only 39 inches for a unit. This fit with about 1/4 inch to spare. Otherwise, I would have had to purchase a 37 inch. So that is a great feature if that is a concern for anyone else.
I purchased this TV from Amazon and had it within a week. I have always been impressed with Amazon’s prompt service. The delivery was on time. The gentlemen called an hour ahead of delivery, and they were polite and helpful. They attached the base.
I must add that when the TV was INITIALLY turned on the picture was horrible. I was in shock. It was full of snow and jumpy and jerky. However, my niece came to the rescue. The inside connections were checked, and they were okay. She went outside and discovered that where the cables from the Dish antenna were spliced, the cables were loose. Once those were tightened, the picture was just super, and I was so very relieved. As a bonus, the reception to the TV in the family room was also greatly improved. I mention this only because someone else might encounter the same problem. I have one Dish and the cable is spliced so it feeds the TV in the living room and family room.
I definitely recommend this TV to anyone contemplating a purchase.

A great TV !!! Clear, crisp, no ghosts, great sound w/o any help from other electronics. Be sure to get the extended warrantee, this TV is a replacement of the first one, after the power circuit died on the original set. The “NEW” extended warrantee was well worth the money.

Our new Samsung LN40B550 We love it and have absolutely no complaints about it. I don’t think we could have done any better for our money. The reviews were good and the price was right. If it has red touch color I sure don’t notice it. The delivery was amazing. The guy brought it in, set it up and made sure it worked.

I have had this HDTV for a week and I really enjoy watching it. Delivery was supposed to be by Monday April 27th but I got it on Friday April 24th. Delivery man brought it inside but did not offer to wait and set it up. He asked me to sign a paper saying I waived plugging the set in to see if it worked. I asked him about it and he said I had to contact Amazon for a return anyway so I agreed setup wasn’t necessary.
I have two complaints about the set. First, I get a lot more glare on this screen than me previous HDTV. I don’t know enough about this and maybe the picture wouldn’t be as sharp if it was more glare resistant. Second, I have had two previous HDTV’s and both were able to accept PAL along with standard U.S. progtramming. For most people this wouldn’t be a problem but if you have region free DVD players they won’t play programming from England on this TV. I wasn’t even looking for it on my other HDTV’s but when I discovered I had it I started using it quite a bit.
I agree with another reviewer that the red touch of color is almost invisible.
UPDATE on 6/20/2009 – I would change this to 5 stars but I couldn’t find a way for this site to let me. I have discovered that, even though this TV doesn’t have a PAL tuner, a lot of region free DVD players will convert PAL format to NTSC format and plays fine on the HDTV monitor.
This TV has really great HD quality. Hopefully this TV will last many years.

I have no complaints. The only problem I do have is that it forces me to upgrade to HD cable or satellite. Otherwise I won’t reap the benefits of all its features. Oh, one other thing…My Touch of color is undetectable. Just after purchasing this I learned of the Samsung LED TV. How can anyone keep up?

The TV may be fine but…. the advertisement says “you order a Samsung LCD TV….and you get for fREE a blue ray player and cables. I got the TV, the cables and no blue ray player.
Seems….I’m not entitled to it because ONLY items shipped by Amazon warrants receiving these. The funny thing is….you do NOT know that Amazon is NOT the shipper of the TVs until after you order it.
So…you are stuck!
I’m out $[...] more because of this fraudulent and misleading information.
SHAME ON YOU AMAZON. TRUST ME I (AND ALL MY CLIENTS WILL KNOW) WILL NOT BUY EVER AGAIN FROM AMAZON.

I received the TV yesterday from CEVA. No problems in the delivery and set up. He unpackaged it and set it in place and connected the cable and put batteries in the remote. He offered to remove the box but I thought I’d keep it for a while just in case. I had to go get a Comcast HD DVR box. And I had also purchased a Samsung blue ray DVD player. I connected them all up but have not tried the DVD player yet. I still need to program the Comcast remote to control the TV. We got the 40″ so it would fit in an existing entertainment cabinet.
The picture is great, almost too bright, especially when there is a lot of white on the screen. And I don’t even see any red around the edge. Hate to think I bought the ‘09 just to get that and can’t see it. Maybe you have to look at it from the side or something, which we can’t do because of the cabinet. Very pleased with the TV and Amazon so far.
May 4, 2009 Update
If you see the Samsung add on TV with the red around the ouside and buy it for that you will be disappointed. There is ‘NO’ red visible on my TV.
Beware Samsung LCD TV Problem
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Samsung LCD’s have the best picture. However, many fail after a few months of use. It stems from bad components in the power supply. At turn on there are repeated clicking sounds which increase to many minutes. A Google search will bring up many web sites that describe this problem. Some consumer group WEB sites carry long lists of unhappy consumers as well. Beware http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/samsung_tv.html

For less than $1k, this is a great 40″ TV. The controls are easy to manage, there are plenty of HDMI inputs, the color and clarity are great, and at 32 lbs, it mounted easily on my wall.
Stay Away From Samsung LCD TVs
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Samsung LCD TVs last for about a year and half before the power supply breaks down due to the fact that they were made with faulty capacitors. This is a widespread problem that Samsung has been made well aware of but refuses to acknowledge. Once the TV is out of warranty, its only a matter of time before the power supply will break down and it will cost you $150-$400 to fix. Just do a Google search for “Samsung on off issues” or “Samsung TV won’t turn on”.
Stay far away from Samsung TVs.

I received the TV on the day promised. The shipper was willing to unpack and set it up, however, I elected to do that myself. It was a piece of cake. Basically, plug it in, attach the antenna, and sit back and watch. The controls on the remote were self explanatory. The concern about the white buttons is not really a concern. Reading a few pages of instruction takes away any problems you might have and the buttons are located in much the same place as any other controller I have ever used. The picture is sharp. The screen is large but not so big as to be overwhelming. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the set.

My new 40 inch Samsung HDTV is great! It was easy to set up and for a person who doesn’t like to read manuals, that is perfect.
The picture is crisp and clear and since I only get my television off the airwaves, that is a big plus for me. So many connections are available. I have my Blue-ray, Roku, VCR connected right now and there are still many more connectors available.
So far I am a happy camper with this buy. Amazon had the best price and with free delivery and no sales tax, you can’t go wrong on this deal.

Looks great, If you are worried, the red border is not garish or really noticeable on the frame. My son set it up by himself and adjusted the widescreen to automatic and we were up and running. We have really enjoyed the TV. The small criticism I have is that the width of the infrared receptor is small, in other words, if you leave things near the receptor, it is harder to switch channels.

I was searching for an affordable LCD HDTV and can across this one and I loove it. The picture is nice and the sound from this TV is amazing. Most are not very loud but this model is fantastic.
Feature packed and really good picture quality for a decent price
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had been eyeing upgrading to an HDTV of some sort for about three years. I had been researching and dreaming about it for the whole time. Samsung was always on the top of my list, and when they came out with this model, which has a lot of features for a comparatively reasonable price tag I finally decided to take the plunge.
I have the most basic Cable service imaginable, so most of the time I am viewing SDTV (480i) stretched to 1920×1080. Considering this enormous stretch, it looks pretty good. It is definitely a tad fuzzy, it looks as good as any other 1080p TV I’ve seen. Similarly, my Wii is pretty fuzzy if you get up close, but it looks fine from my couch, especially when I enabled Progressive output. The Wii isn’t trying to be a graphics powerhouse anyway.
On the flip side is my DVD player. It has component output and is capable of doing 480p, and holy cow does it look awesome! After watching the SDTV and Wii, I was a little worried my DVDs would be equally blurry unless I upgraded to an upscaling player, but with progressive output, holy cow, I do not feel that is necessary at all. I was very pleased because watching movies is what I do most.
As for HD picture, my options are limited currently, but I for some reason NBC does come in in 1080i over my plain non-digital cable and I also tested OTA HDTV and I’ve gotta say, it is GORGEOUS. So in my limited experience, the HD picture on this TV looks fantastic.
My Dell laptop has an HDMI out (video and audio) so I decided to hook it up to the side HDMI connection on the TV. At first it looked kind of terrible and I had to do a lot fiddling. It still didn’t look right though. After consulting the manual, I discovered that computers are really supposed to be connected to HDMI 1. Switching to that I also discovered that naming the HDMI 1 port “DVI PC” it disables audio input, so bear that in mind. Once I hooked it up right though, it is fantastic. Videos and games look great and surfing the web with a wireless mouse and keyboard is AWESOME.
There are tons of video options and tweaks so you can get the TV to look perfect in whatever environment it is in. Another great feature is that you can connect a Digital Camera or USB storage device to show pictures at the full resolution intead of 480i all streched out if you do it over composite video. It looks great, but unfortunately my Canon camera uses PictBridge instead of acting like a USB Mass Storage device, so I can’t do it. I’ve tested it with a USB Thumbdrive and it looks great though.
So, here’s a recap for the “Too Long; Didn’t Read” crowd:
+PROS+
+Great Price/Feature ratio
+Awesome HD Picture (as far as I’m concerned)
+Great DVD 480p picture
+Tons of Video Tweaking options
+USB
+Tons of Inputs
+Digital Audio Output
+Rotatable mount

%SDTV Picture is only OK
-Negatives-
-Auto Program takes FOREVER
-Front buttons are practically invisible… and therefore practically unusable.
-No Picture-in-Picture at all
As you can see, the negatives are pretty minor (except maybe the PIP for some people). All in all…. I love this dang TV!!

Pilot men set up the TV (it’s pretty heavy for a woman). The sound is decent. The picture is outstanding. I be fond of it. Highly recommend.
Excellent TV for today’s multi-HD electronics
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this TV online with a discount coupon code from Amazon.com, and was hesitant about purchasing a new TV online, but I must say, the experience has been nothing but bliss. The TV was hand-delivered by a contracted company from Amazon, and the price was well worth what I paid compared to buying it at a Best Buy or other public electronics store (no tax, free shipping, points on my Amazon card). I’m not going to bother getting into specifics, but I am giving this review based on what I thought were the TV’s positive attributes (and very few negatives). This TV is my main unit in my apartment, and I have a HD antenna attached (flawlessly integrates with the TV’s tuner), a Playstation 3, a HD-DVD player and HD Cable Television attached to it. The TV has an optional side HDMI input (on the right side of the TV) that I use to attach to my laptop’s HDMI output to stream online movies, etc. The contrast ratio is excellent, with a 70,000:1 ratio, and the depth of black is excellent on the television. What I also liked was the fact that the TV is Energy Star efficient, and you can adjust the rate of power conservation (low, medium, high). Just note that the more energy you save (on high), the darker the TV’s picture gets.
Positives:
1. Full 1080p resolution
2. 4 HDMI’s (3 in the back, 1 on the right side of the TV)
3. USB input (for pictures, audio, etc on a flash drive) this input is located on the right side of the TV
4. Energy Star efficient
5. Game mode to preserve the TV’s picture
6. Easy to use interface
Negatives:
1. The Red “Touch of Color” border isn’t really noticeable unless you have the TV in a very bright room (which I wouldn’t recommend). This is purely a cosmetic concern, not a functional one.
2. No DVI input for a laptop computer (but it does have a side HDMI input and an analog laptop input). This is not really a negative, but just something I noticed.

The TV looks great and has a great picture. The “Red Touch of Color” marketing was misleading. The color is so light you would never notice. I assumed it lit up the way they advertised it. The title was misleading. Otherwise, I am very happy with it. Very user friendly.
Amazing
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this TV about a week ago and have used it everyday since. It has an amazing picture and really stands out in the room I have it in. With that said, I did do a TON of research before I bought this TV as I was upgrading from another Samsung about 2 years old. I really had to decide how important 120hrz was to me and I decided that it is not necessary for the extra $300. CEVA was amazing as well. Get this TV, you will not be disappointed.
MPEG Support – I don’t think so
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Just got this TV yesterday. I’ve watched both SD and HD programming on it so far and have to say that I don’t really see a difference between it and my 4 year old Sony 40 inch 720P LCD. Now, it weighs almost half that of my old Sony but the picture quality seems about the same. I guess I was expecting something drastically different. I haven’t watched a Blu Ray yet so maybe I’ll see a difference there, but I’m thinking it won’t be that significant. This is a bedroom TV so I wasn’t expecting the same kind of ‘wow’ picture I get on my living room plasma TV, but was still hoping for some improvement over what I have been watching. That isn’t to say the picture is bad, so please don’t interpret my comments in that way. The picture is pretty sharp and the colors look good. Doesn’t seem to get hot at all, which is good for a bedroom, too.
One thing that puzzles me is that Amazon’s description as well as Samsung’s websites describe this TV as being able to play MPEG via the USB port. However if you download the actual user manual from Samsung it says only MP3 and JPEG files are supported… no MPEG. I tried anyway with my thumb drive and sure enough, it will only display pictures or play music but won’t play (or even acknowledge) the MPEG files. So that is some pretty bad information from Samsung… not sure why they claim it can do something when it really can’t. If I had known this before purchasing, I probably would have gotten the 530 model instead. But it is not worth the hassle of returning at this point.
UPDATE 12/22/2009:
One other thing which isn’t the fault of Samsung but might help you determine if this is the TV for you. For some reason the standard Dish Network universal remote controls don’t handle volume control very well. I’ve had 2 other Samsung TVs and it is the same for all 3 of them. While the universal remote can be programmed for the Samsung TV, in order to increase/decrease the volume you have to hit the volume +/- once for each volume level change. So for example, you are watching TV at volume 32 and a commercial comes on that is extremely loud and you want to reduce the volume to 22. With the Dish remote you have to punch the volume down button 10 times (with a slight hesitation between each button press) to get the volume down to that level. You’d then have to do the same thing to get the volume back up to the original level when the commercial is over. This is different from a typical remote in which you can just press the button once and hold it while the TV cycles up or down through the volume levels, and then you release the button once it gets to the desired level. In my living room I get around this by using a Harmony universal remote instead of the Dish Network remote, but in the bedroom I need the RF capabilities of the Dish Network remote and don’t want to spend $200+ for a Harmony remote for that room. If you don’t have Dish Network then this is a non-issue for you.
Amazing Intro to HD, could have gone bigger?

Hi Everyone,
This is my first HD and flat screen TV. I’ve been drooling for one for years. Chose this one after too much research because of the great reviews. I wanted top shelf technology at a low price. 1080p, hdmi inputs, the clean look, and the swivaling base sold me.
Just received this tv from amazon on Friday, May 22. Attatched Direct Tv HD receiver and Playstation 3. Tv is very light. Truely simple setup. Played Iron Man, and an NBA HD game and they look perfect. To justify the purchase to my wife, I turned off all of the lights and played the True Blood BluRay and she was impressed. Also, did the common trick: “here is the standard channel, here is the AMAZING HD version!”
We wanted to avoid a tv would look too high-tech/show-offy, but this one blends in nicely because there are not glowing buttons or huge logos.
I will be adding some sort of surround sound system to beef up the viewing experience. The sound is fine, just cannot keep up with the great picture.
Watching standard tv channels is no fun compared to HD. Get HD and probably BluRay (have not watched a normal dvd yet).
Lastly, I might have gone bigger if I could have afforded it. I sit fairly close, maybe 6-7 ft. But this is so close to replacing the movie theatre experience, that a 46-incher might have done it. I say might, because I am not sure if it would have been too much. This tv does seem to “fit” perfectly in the room.
Get it already!
A miserable experience

My 32 inch Samsung LCD was great for five months then died a spectacular death. While watching it one day, a huge spark arced out of the top of the TV, and it was absolutely dead. That was the start of my trouble as warranty service was horrendous. I made nearly two dozen phone calls to Samsung, their warranty service contractor and the various technicians. Scheduled service visits would result in no one showing up. It took nearly a month and a half to get replacement parts installed. I’ll never buy a Samsung product again.
Poor Quality Control
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I purchased this (Samsung LN40B550) along with the Samsung BluRay player as part of a package deal. The BluRay player was defective from the start (have to restart it twice to get it to respond). The TV installed well, but within a week, the picture would started to flicker when it was started up. After a day or two, the picture failed entirely (through both the cable box and the BluRay player HDMI interfaces). When the TV works, it’s a nice box. However, based on the fact that I received two defective products from Samsung, I cannot recommend anything made by Samsung. It’s obvious that their quality control is ineffective. We’ll see how this gets resolved…
A lot of bang for your buck!

For the $800 and under price range, this is probably one of the best options right now. I’ve had it for about 5 weeks now and I’m happy with it. The touch of red color looks real nice and the swivel stand it comes with is excellent – it’s a much better option than mounting it on the wall. Has a lot of cool features that I haven’t even fully explored yet. Picture quality is about an 8 out of 10.
Amazing TV

First of all, this LCD TV is by far the best in its price range. The 70k:1 ratio on this monster is beautiful!!!. It conveniently has 4 HDMI ports, which is plenty of plug-ins for your video game consoles, BlueRay players, DVD players what ever you plug for HDMI. The Game mode does wonders for your gaming experience. It makes your games have less of a motion blur. If you are an online gamer or a casual, Playstation 3 or Xbox360 gamer this one is for you. Both consoles look amazing.
The buttons on the remote are very straight forward and easy to use, menus are easy to navagate. there are plenty of features that are in the menus that i dont know what they do.
It also has an energy saver that you can set to different setting for your room lighting.
I can go on and on about this television. I would recommend this to any one who likes to play games, watch movies or has HD satellite channels.
I would buy another one just like it if i could.
P.S. I have looked at many reviews for this T.V. and i can see my TOC just fine. I think it has to do with the way the light reflect off of the T.V’s black finish.
THIS IS A MUST HAVE TV FOR ANYONE!

I was thrilled when receiving this television set! It is even better than described! It arrived safely in it’s box and I was able to easily lift it and set it up on my own without any assistance. I like that the touch of red truly is just “a touch” because it is perfect and not distracting. The option to set the screen just for movies is great as it makes my movie night more enjoyable. The picture is clear…terrific, not at all fuzzy. The sound quality is excellent! I like the sturdy swivel base that comes with it. Everything about this t.v. is great!
TV died…Samsung terrible customer service
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Our Samsung 40″ tv died just before the year warrenty and for the past three months we have been trying to fix, replace, and now get a refund for the set. Samsung has had terrible customer service…never returning phone calls, passing us on to the next customer service rep, etc. The problem, which continued to worsen over time was this: when we turned on the tv it shut itself off to reset, then it turned back on and made a horribly loud screeching noise, then shut itself off, then it turned itself back on and froze, then turned itself off…and back on. This lasted up to 10 minutes. Once the tv was on it worked fine, but beware before you buy!
